SHOCK DEFEAT: Wealdstone’s winning run comes to an end

Published on: 28th September 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Wealdstone F.C

Wealdstone’s ten game winning run came to an end at the hands of Havant & Waterlooville in the National League South this afternoon

Ross Lafayette’s opener was cancelled out by Hawks goals from Jonah Ayunga, Adam Drury, Alfie Rutherford and Danny Kedwell.

The Stones took the lead after 11 minutes when Lafayette powered home Dennon Lewis’ cross from the left into the bottom corner.

Havant quickly equalised four minutes later after Ayunga blocked Aston Oxborough’s clearance and the ball went directly into the goal.

Lafayette had a big chance saved by Worner five minutes later before Drury gave the away side the lead 10 minutes before half-time.

The Hawks came out the quicker side in the second half and Rutherford was set through on-goal and converted past Oxborough five minutes into the second period.

Rutherford was then fouled by Michael Phillips in the 18-yard box and Kedwell slotted his penalty past Oxborough with 20 minutes left of the game.

The game petered out to a close as the Stones remain with a healthy lead at the top of the National League South after 12 games.

Wealdstone take on Hounslow United at home on October 1.
