A new professional theatre company in Berkhamsted has been set up to help young actors affected by the COVID pandemic.

The Shakespeare Circus has been set up by Victoria Williams from Gobstoppers Theatre and “theatre maker” Michael Corbridge, with the aim of helping young people get back into acting again.

Victoria said many young actors were forced to carry one drama courses online during the pandemic and missed out on the real experience of rehearsing and performing.

She said: “The pandemic crushed the dreams of young drama students and performers, but we will give some of them the opportunities on which they missed out.”

Rhys, 20, who is one of the young actors in the company, said he can’t wait to get back in front of an audience.

He said: “After leaving school I did a course with a group called ‘All In Actors’ in London. But the pandemic meant that the last half of it was online. Going on tour with The Shakespeare Circus will be an amazing opportunity.”

The Shakespeare Circus will be based at The Gable Hall in Prince Edward Street in Berkhamsted.
