Pinner chess prodigy Bodhana Sivandan has made history again after becoming the youngest player ever to earn the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title, aged just 11.
She secured her third and final WGM norm, a certified achievement, while representing England at the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Bodhana played all 11 rounds on England’s board, finishing with eight points.
Speaking after her recent achievement, she said: “I’m happy to do it, but I want to keep and keep making history as well, instead of just stopping here.”
PinnerNews reported her world record achievement in the August edition, as she became the youngest girl to defeat a grandmaster rated above 2,600. Her rapid progress is evident; it hasn’t taken long for Bodhana to attain the WGM title herself.
Her latest performance has earned Bodhana a second International Master (IM) norm, which leaves her just one IM away from achieving that title.
Bodhana began playing chess during the Covid-19 lockdown and entered her first tournament at Harrow Chess Club in 2021.
