POPULAR PETITION: Pinner residents object against plans to expand flats

Published on: 31st March 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

Pinner residents are campaigning against the expansion of the Northcote block of flats on Rickmansworth Road in Pinner.

The applications to build 17 new flats at Northcote has been strongly opposed by some residents who say the plans will “have a detrimental effect on the wellbeing of the community.”

Resident Muzna Al-Naib was one of the organisers of a popular petition opposing the plans. She says the flats will cut green land which has provided the community with tremendous comfort during the pandemic.

Muzna told PinnerNews: “This is disastrous for us. I cannot believe this is how local democracy is functioning, you shouldn’t have to resort to activism to get your voice heard on something like planning.

“The decision should be about the wellbeing of our community and the duty of care the council and the planning committee have towards local people.

“We trust the planning committee members to read our objection letters, to take our concerns seriously and come to the decision to protect this community.”

Today (March 31, 2021) is the last day to sign the petition bit.ly/3snGNtX before it is sent to Harrow Council and the plans are considered by the planning committee in April.

To find out more about the development plans search P/2567/20 and P/2785/20 on the Harrow Council website.
