It was an afternoon to forget for Chalfont St Peter after Finlay Johnson’s men were crushed 6-1 at Staines Town.
After the visitors went 2-0 down after just eight minutes, it looked set to be a long afternoon.
But Staines did not extend their lead until just before half time with a direct free kick.
In the second half, Staines scored twice more before Dan Williams registered a mere consolation goal.
Chalfont’s misery was compounded when Staines added a sixth on the break
After the game, the club’s Twitter account had a philosophical message.
Ft 6-1. Not much else to say. Thanks very much for your support again this afternoon and safe journey home.
