ROYAL ART: Bushey schoolgirl creates portrait of His Majesty in honour of coronation

Published on: 22nd May 2023   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A nine-year-old from Bushey has found a special way to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, by creating a piece of art of the King himself.

Macie Belasco, who is a keen artist, decided to create the oversized piece of art as her own tribute to the new king.

We previously reported about Macie in the June edition of BUSHEYNEWS last year, for her portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II to mark the Platinum Jubilee.

Measuring 150cm x 100cm Macie has used acrylic paint for the King’s profile. Around the portrait of his face, she has taken cuttings from magazines, which are about the King throughout his life to date and formed a Union Jack pattern. At the base of the canvas is a gold leaf London skyline.

Macie was delighted to share her artwork at a local coronation party.

She said: “I was very proud to have my artwork of King Charles on display at the Radlett Party in Philimore Recreation Ground. Lots of people had photographs with it and the Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire and councillor Helen Jones loved it!

“I hope King Charles gets to see the photographs of it that I mailed to him!”

Macie previously received a response Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to thank her and is hoping to receive the same about her portrait of King Charles II.
