REMEMBERING GINA: Croxley resident organises charity summer fete in sister’s memory

Published on: 13th August 2025   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

After losing her sister to sepsis, a Croxley resident has been raising awareness of the life-threatening condition and using her family’s story to save lives.

Aged 30, Gina Campanini went to hospital with a chest infection and passed away from sepsis just six days later.

As reported in the February 2025 edition of CROXLEYnews, Gina’s sister Maria Campanini is running a half marathon every month this year to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust, finishing with a marathon on Gina’s birthday in December.

This month, Maria is inviting members of the community to come along to a charity summer fete in memory of Gina.

At St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood from 10am to 2pm on Sunday, August 17, residents can browse stalls and enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, tombola, and much more.

Visitors can also enjoy sweet and savoury food alongside live music and family fun.

Sharing the ‘why?’ behind the summer fete, Maria shared: “Gina was the most wonderful person who has ever lived. She was the centre of our family. She lit up every room she walked into, and she had her whole life ahead of her.

“Many people don’t know about sepsis, the symptoms to look out for, and the speed at which it takes hold. Raising awareness in Gina’s memory will save lives.”

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition and symptoms include blue, grey, pale or blotchy skin, a rash, difficulty breathing, and slurred speech.

All attendees are encouraged to make a donation of £3 to £5 to the UK Sepsis Trust.
