Jokanovic upbeat despite defeat

Watford head coach Slavisa Jokanovic said that there was no overreaction needed to the Hornets 3-0 defeat to promotion rivals Norwich City.

The Serbian said: “We’ve won many games before – now is the time to clear our minds before Tuesday’s match. “They scored from the penalty then a second goal quickly; it was after that I didn’t think we were strong enough with our reactions. “They didn’t have too many chances before their first goal. I thought it was a tight game which could end with no goals or 1-0. But we looked like a team without a plan by the end of the match and this is something we have to make sure is removed from us for the rest of the season.” Forty-two points left to play for was the Jokanovic message, in philosophical mood for much of the time, knowing that his side were well short of their best this afternoon. “Sometimes you will win games, sometimes you will lose. But we didn’t make enough moves and create enough chances after Norwich took the lead, so this is the most disappointing aspect for me from this match. “We must always believe we can change a situation as a team. There is no time for frustration in football, there is only time for keeping a clear mind. “One defeat – okay it is done. Now is the time for people with a hard, strong mentality.” Picture courtesy of Alan Cozzi
