Five teenage swimmers and their coach from Watford braved icy temperatures as they completed a relay of the English Channel in under 11 hours.
The team set off from Dover at 1.30am on Sunday, August 24. Jeffrey took on the first leg of the relay, splashing into the darkness of the waters to begin the tough challenge.
He was followed by Prisha, Felipe, Olivia and Conor, before coach Jeremy took his turn in the cold, choppy waves.
Ten hours and 58 minutes later, 14-year-old Conor landed at Cap Gris-Nez on the French coast at around 12.32pm.
The team completed their challenge on the 150th anniversary of Captain Matthew Webb’s swim of the English Channel, the first person in the UK to swim the Channel.
Jeremy said: “I am extremely proud of our incredible swimmers, who worked so hard to accomplish this challenge.
“The sea state was much worse than predicted, making progress far more difficult. But the conditions didn’t deter their spirit; they supported and inspired each other every step of the way.
“This remarkable achievement will forever be part of the swimmers’ lives, marking their courage, teamwork, and determination in one of the world’s most iconic endurance challenges.”
