An Abbots Langley society is hosting a production of Orpheus in the Underworld this month, in what is promised to be a “modern twist on a timeless story”.
Abbots Langley Gilbert & Sullivan Society (ALGSS) is performing the reimagining of the Greek myth, which sees grief-riddled Orpheus travel to the Underworld in order to bring back his wife, Eurydice.
However, ALGSS is bringing a twist to the performance, as Orpheus reluctantly makes the trip after accidentally killing his wife with a snake.
According to ALGSS, when Orpheus arrives in the Underworld, he discovers that Eurydice is somewhat preoccupied.
The performance is directed by Andrea Campusano, who is working alongside musical director Philip Joslin.
There will be four performances at Watford Palace Theatre between Thursday, February 13, and Saturday, February 15. The show is suggested for people aged 12 and over.
