‘REALLY ANGRY’: Nearly 200 residents attend meeting about controversial Tring development

Published on: 26th November 2024   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Hundreds of Tring residents queued outside Victoria Hall to attend a council meeting discussing the proposed Marshcroft Farm development.

Last month, it was revealed that the controversial development outlined in the Local Plan was back on track.

On Monday, November 18, nearly 200 residents attended a Tring Town Council meeting at Victoria Hall to share their fears.

One attending resident spoke to Tring News and said: “It was so busy, with people even standing at the back. Everyone was so angry. The council spoke as if it was a done deal, and even though we could put our objections forward, the impression I got was that it wouldn’t make a difference.

“I’m really angry. I was born and raised in Tring, and I know we need housing, but we’re known as a small market town. We won’t be Tring anymore.”

The meeting was hosted by Leader of Dacorum Borough Council councillor Adrian England, head of strategic planning Ronan Leydon, and strategic planning officer Keeley Mitchell.

The presentation emphasised the 11-year-old Dacorum Local Plan, and the growing threat of government intervention.

Daily Mirror columnist Mike Walters, who has continued to share his frustration over the proposed development, said: “Now cllr Adrian England knows the depth of anger in Tring about the abhorrent urban sprawl proposed in our town, perhaps he’ll be good enough to help us resist it.

“Wholesale desecration of a market town in the borough where you were elected to SERVE the people is not acceptable.”

A spokesperson for Dacorum Borough Council said: “The regulation 19 consultation opened Monday, November 4, and ends at midday on Tuesday, December 17. This consultation allows the public to comment on the draft Local Plan’s legal compliance and ‘soundness’ with national planning policies.

“Following this consultation period, all responses will be shared with the Planning Inspectorate, where an independent planning inspector will review these responses and examine the Local Plan to 2041 to determine whether it is legally compliant.”

Cllr England has been contacted for comment.

This is a disgraceful ” NOT LISTENING” and could’nt really care what the residents of Tring will be facing.
