Published on: 21st October 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Watford FC

Current Watford FC captain and striker Troy Deeney will be joining TalkSport’s Breakfast Show as a presenter every Monday morning, the radio station has announced.

He will be alongside co-presenters Laura Woods and Ally McCoist on the show, and has also announced that he will be a columnist for The Sun.

Deeney said: “I can’t wait to get going on The Sun and TalkSport. The Sun is a massive paper and I understand the responsibilities that go with that.

“TalkSport is the number one sports station so to be broadcasting on Breakfast and across the schedule will be very special for me. I want to add something unique and give a different perspective, not only on football but many areas of life.”

Head of TalkSport, Lee Clayton, said: “Troy is a footballing icon and will bring his experience and insight of the current top players to listeners at Breakfast every week. He joins out talented, new look team for the 2020/21 season making the start of the TalkSport week even stronger.”

Deeney appeared on the show this morning (Wednesday) and spoke briefly about the links he had with Spurs during the transfer window.

He said: “I saw Jose at the Watford vs Spurs game in pre-season. That’s all I will say. When you get to Spurs you know the difference between the lesser clubs and the big boys. It’s a different experience.

“I think we all watched the Amazon thing; their training ground is ridiculous; their stadium is ridiculous.”
