AWESOME ARYA: £1k+ raised for charity by 6-year-old’s fundraising efforts

A young Northwood schoolgirl has managed to raise over a grand for a charity that provides realistic wigs for cancer-stricken children.

Arya Kandola may only be six years old, but that hasn’t stopped her from fundraising nearly £1,300 and counting, way above her original goal of £200. The money was collected through sponsorships and a Just Giving page.

The money will all go to go to the Little Princess Trust, a national charity that provides real hair wigs for young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer and other illnesses.

Young Arya, a student at Northwood College for Girls, has also donated 13 inches of her own hair to the trust, to be used to make a realistic looking hairpiece for a sick child somewhere. The charity also funds various research projects looking at beating cancer once and for all.

Arya’s mother, Reema Rughani, has spoken of how proud she is of her daughter and explained to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews what inspired Arya’s decision to get fundraising for this charity:

“Having lost Arya’s grandfather (my father) to cancer a few months prior, I was immensely proud of Arya raising money to support other people going through cancer. She went out and collected donations herself, so she truly understood the effect that it has on people’s lives”.
