Construction has started on a new care home in Rickmansworth set to provided 76 bedrooms for elderly residents.

Being built on the former Bridge Motors site on Church Street close to the River Colne, a turf cutting ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 29, with leader of Three Rivers District Council, councillor Keith Martin, attending along with Nigel Berney of NL Property, the developers, and chief executive of care home operators Quantum Care, Maria Ball.

The new care home, to be called Riverside Lodge, is set to open in 2023, and will feature 76 en-suite bedrooms for residents, as well as a cinema, hair salon, ground floor café, dining rooms and lounges all to make life for those living there easier.

Short breaks will also be organised by staff, with convalescence care also available for those just needing a short stay after an unwell period before getting back on their feet.

Cllr Martin said: “It is a pleasure to participate in the ground breaking ceremony for what I am sure will be a much-loved home for its residents. This care home will provide much needed quality accommodation for people who are no longer able to live independently.”

Maria Ball, Chief Executive of Quantum Care said “Riverside Lodge will offer the highest standards of care accommodation and care quality; something that we are very proud of.

“As a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society, we always strive to work closely with our neighbours and a wide range of local groups and are very much looking forward to becoming a valued part of the Rickmansworth community”.
