A gymnast from Watford’s Dolphina Club became the Gold Regional Champion last month.

Lily Baker, 16, won the award at the British Gymnastics’ East Region Classic Challenge in Ipswich on October 16.

Lily came first all-around, received first place in beam and floor, and came second place for vault and bars.

Four other Dolphina gymnasts also competed at the competition.

Issy Paulus competed in the Bronze category aged 11/12, coming third on beam and fifth all-around.

Alyssa Krausz came second in the AA Bronze category aged 13+. Ameira Dransfield came third in the AA Bronze category aged 13+, and Mia Warren placed second on beam in the Bronze category aged 13+.

Admin and coach Alice Denham said: “We are so proud of the girls and their achievements. So pleased that all their hard work and dedication is paying off!”

Lily will represent the East Region Gold Team at the National Classic Challenge Finals in December.

Issy will join her as part of the Bronze team and Alyssa as the travelling reserve.

It will be Lily’s fifth national competition. Last year, she competed in the Silver category.

The girls are preparing for the competition by working on their routines and skills.

Lily started gymnastics when she was four-and-a-half years old and has been part of the Dolphina team ever since.

The club was founded in 1991 and was previously based at Watford Woodside Leisure Centre and the YMCA, before moving to its current home on Greycaine Road.
