Public defibrillators installed in Abbots Langley

Abbots Langley Parish Council has funded and installed two community defibrillators for easy public access. The Community Public Access Defibrillator’s (CPad) have been installed on Thursday, July 31 at Henderson Memorial Hall on the High Street and ay Manor House Sports and Social Centre. If 999 has been called and the ambulance service operator believes the patient is under cardiac arrest, the ambulance will advise them of the nearest cPad. The defibrillator unit will then talk the user through the unit until the ambulance arrives. Councillor Jane Lay, Chairman of the Parish Council: “Community Access Defibrillators are vital pieces of equipment that really can save lives. I am delighted that the Parish Council has decided to install these first two units.” cPad’s provide vital early intervention  prior to the arrival emergency services, increasing the chance of survival following a cardiac arrest. The Parish council spent £1,500 on each cPad and they hope charities and community groups will contribute funds in order to see more throughout Abbots.
