Painting a positive picture of health

Some of the Three Rivers District’s youngest artists are setting a fine example, by raising awareness of positive mental health in very creative ways!

Having been given the theme of ‘my happy place’ to respond to in a bid to promote the vision of wellbeing within our communities, Greenfields, Maple Cross, St Mary’s C of E, St Meryl, St Peter’s C of E, and Yorke Mead Primary Schools will be helping to transform Artistsmeet into an inspiring space filled with colour and pattern, for a unique exhibition this Spring time.

Cllr Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, Community and Wellbeing said: “Come and join the fun at the official afternoon launch celebration, where Artistsmeet will be joined by children, families and staff from the schools involved. Refreshments will be provided, entry is free and people of all ages are welcome to attend.”

The event will take place on Thursday 8 March 2018, from 4 – 5:30pm, free entry.

The inaugural Young Masters Primary exhibition took place in 2016 with a few schools. Since then, the opportunity has developed into an ‘Open’ invitation to all schools across the district, with a guarantee of all submitted artworks being featured within the display.

This year, the children from the participating schools have all been busy painting, colouring, collaging and sculpting an eclectic variety of artworks which we are delighted to be hosting for the month of March!

Elaine Johnson, Arts Development Officer said: The Young Masters exhibitions have always proved popular and now that we have widened our remit to work with additional schools, more children and young people have an opportunity to take centre stage. This year’s theme is particularly important too, and schools have truly embraced that.
