The yarn bombers have been out in full force this year as the town has been hit with a knitted display of poppies.
Yarn Bomb Hemel Hempstead was first established last year when a group of residents got together to show support for the Poppy Appeal.
The remembrance poppy has been used since 1921 to commemorate military personnel who have died in war and represents a common or field poppy. The poppy was inspired by the First World War poem In Flanders Fields.
The Yarn Bomb Hemel Hempstead organiser, Christine Allsopp, said: “This year we decided to try post box toppers. We are a group on Facebook of crochet and knitters from Hemel.
“We meet once a month at the Olde Kings Arms in the Old Town when not working on a project and more frequently when building up to a display.
“Anyone is welcome to join, we are a very informal group.”
