Published on: 5th June 2026   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Featured

A prisoner who has links to Northwood has escaped from prison in Buckinghamshire.

John Baker, 44, previously held captive at HMP Springhill, near Grendon Underwood, is wanted by Thames Valley Police for leaving the open prison at around 7pm on May 23.

Thames Valley confirmed that Baker left without the authority or lawful license to be back in the community and that he has ties to Northwood. The escaped convict is around 5ft 9ins tall and of a medium build.

Investigating officer detective sergeant Jon Muldoon said: “We are appealing for the help of the public to trace John Baker, who is unlawfully at large after escaping from HMP Springhill. If you see Baker, do not approach him and call 999 instead.

“If you have any information as to where Baker may be, please call 101 or make a report online, quoting reference number 43260256961.”

Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
