POTTY ROADS: Hundreds sign petition urging for action on problem roads

Published on: 16th March 2024   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

Hatch End councillor Matthew Goodwin-Freeman has handed in a petition on behalf of local residents asking for pavements and road surfaces to be assessed.

Signed by almost 200 residents, the petition has asked Harrow Council to assess Ufford Road, Ufford Close, Boniface Gardens, Boniface Walk and Tillotson Road in Hatch End, after reports of residents tripping, falling and being injured. One resident even required stitches following a fall.

Cllr Goodwin-Freeman handed in the petition at a Harrow Council meeting on Thursday, February 22.

He said: “This isn’t about blaming anyone, but these pavements and roads haven’t been done in over 50 years – that’s more than twice my age! This is about recognising that residents need to be kept in the loop and informed – which our administration is doing.

“We said we’d put residents first and we are; resurfacing dozens of roads and pavements that had been neglected for many years. This petition is asking to work with the council to give residents answers, as that’s how you get things done!”

Harrow Council has been contacted for comment.
