A local arts centre is calling for more artists and visitors from Northwood to get involved amidst a fresh new start for the space.
Southlands Arts Centre in West Drayton is still reeling from the triple whammy of the COVID-19 pandemic, cuts to their funding, and the cost-of-living crisis.
But with a new manager at the helm, staff at the centre are hoping to create an exciting programme of talks, exhibitions, workshops and courses.
A spokesperson for the centre said: “For over 60 years, Southlands Arts Centre has been a hub of creativity for the local community. In 2024, we are presenting a wide range of activities.
“Our first Easter craft market is being held on Easter Saturday and our annual music festival, SouthlandsLIVE, is taking place in July.”
Ahead of these events, the centre is launching a creative writing competition titled Paper the Walls on Friday, March 22. Residents are encouraged to write their own ideas on paper walls inside the centre to provide inspiration for entrants.
Northwood artist Jayne Towndrow will also be hosting a gel printing workshop on March 23, and there will be a bookbinding course on April 4.
