A South Oxhey man has pled guilty to the charge of possession of an offensive weapon after terrifying neighbours when he left his flat with a meat cleaver in his hand.

39-year-old Kerry Reynolds appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday, March 17, where he admitted to one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

He is now scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday. April 28 at the same court after having been remanded in custody.

The incident in question occurred on the evening of Sunday, January 19 2020, where CCTV shows Reynolds leaving his flat in Pennard House off Oxhey Drive, South Oxhey holding the meat cleaver.

It is known that he went into the communal hallway of the building and exited onto St Andrews Way for a short while, before eventually returning to his property.

On Thursday, January 30 of the same year, police found and seized the cleaver while conducting a search on Reynolds flat in relation to a separate matter, under Section 18 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

Three Rivers Local Crime Unit’s Detective Constable Carly Fry said: “Reynolds has been synonymous with anti-social behaviour in South Oxhey for some time and his actions have caused his neighbours considerable distress and concern, making their lives a misery. Now he has pleaded guilty to this offence, we await his sentencing next month.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their home, and no-one should have to endure anti-social behaviour and crime in their neighbourhood. If you are experiencing issues, then please report them to us so we can record information and take action.”
