Changes to the way Abbots Langley’s police community support officers work have come into force.
Officers now begin and end their shifts at Rickmansworth station, a move that started on Monday, April 20.
However, police have confirmed that Abbots Langley station remains open and available for officers to use while patrolling the area.
The assurance comes after residents expressed concerns about relocating local police to Rickmansworth, fearing it meant Abbots Langley station could close.
They also worried that the change would result in fewer police on the beat in the village.
Responding to concerns, chief inspector Dan Rainbird said: “Under the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, we remain committed to having named, contactable local police officers working in every neighbourhood in Hertfordshire.
“I want to reassure residents that this will not have any adverse effect on our visibility across South Oxhey and Abbots Langley.
“The change of location will allow effective, collaborated tasking and briefing, to ensure we have the best chance of catching criminals, protecting the vulnerable and preventing crime.”
