The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation into the Met Police’s pursuit of a couple linked to a Pinner burglary has concluded.
Patrick McDonagh, 19, and heavily pregnant wife Shauna, 18, both died on the evening of February 10, 2019 when their car collided with a coach while travelling down the wrong side of the A40 in Acton.
The chase ensued after police linked the Renault Scenic the couple were travelling in with an aggravated burglary in a Pinner home on the same night.
Following their deaths, however, it was confirmed that the couple were not at the scene of the earlier burglary.
An IOPC spokesperson told PinnerNews: “In February 2020 we concluded our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Patrick and Shauna McDonagh following a police pursuit on the A40 in London in February 2019.
“Our investigation report and its findings have been shared with the Metropolitan Police Service and the families of Mr and Mrs McDonagh.
“We have also provided HM Coroner with a copy of the report in advance of the inquest. We will liaise with the families and all other parties involved regarding publishing the findings of our investigation following the inquest, a date for which has yet to be set.”
