Police are appealing for witnesses and information after three teenage boys were robbed in Verulamium Park, St Albans. The incident happened near to Ye Olde Fighting Cocks Public House at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, June 21. Three boys were walking into the park, having just passed the River Ver and the public house when they were approached by three men. The men assaulted the boys and then removed their personal items, including mobile phones, wallets and bags. The offenders then ran off back into Verulamium Park towards the main lakes. The boys suffered swelling to their faces as a result of the incident. The offenders are described as one white man and two black men, aged around 20 years old, wearing black clothing and white trainers. Detective Constable Gareth John is investigating and said: “I would like to trace any witnesses to the incident. We are very keen to trace the men responsible for this incident so they cannot commit further offences of this nature. If you believe you saw what happened or the offenders before or after the offence in the area, you are asked to contact police at the earliest opportunity.” Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact DC John on Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F1/17/2930. Alternatively, if you have any information about this incident you can contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will never need to go to court.
