Students at Park High School in Stanmore have been crowned Harrow Borough’s Champions in both girls’ and boys’ sports in its inaugural year of inter-school rankings.
The school secured no less than 15 borough titles during the last academic year, with at least one first or second place finish for every sport entered. Both the boys’ teams and girls’ teams brought home titles in netball, football, rounders, cricket and athletics.
Alongside taking home the most wins, Park High boasted the highest rate of participation across the borough.
This year, Harrow Council launched a ranking system that sees schools accrue points for every competition win across the borough. When the points were tallied at the end of the school year, it became clear that Park High had triumphed overall.
Head of PE Andy Byrne said: “To see students developing their confidence in lessons, building an interest in a sport and then turning it into a passion at our extra-curricular clubs is extremely rewarding.”
In addition to their on-field success, students also attended a number of professional fixtures and enjoyed coaching opportunities from external experts. One highlight saw the Under 14 netball team acting as mascots for the England netball team at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Olympic Park.
Headteacher Colette O’Dwyer said: “The sporting excellence at Park High is second to none. To see our students striving to be their best through their sporting endeavours brings us much pride.”
