Rising Chorleywood racing star Ethan Lloyd showcased incredible skill and determination at the recent penultimate round of the national Kart Championship.
Ethan competed against the country’s top drivers in the micromax cadet class for ages eight to 10. He arrived at the event at Rowrah circuit in the Lake District in second place overall, trailing the championship leader by 13 points. After starting strong, he qualified in third place and secured a third-place finish and a win in the first heats.
The next day brought mixed fortunes. In the first race, engine issues caused Ethan to drop to last place before the start. Despite a valiant effort to fight through the field, his engine failed completely after three laps, forcing him to retire. However, with the engine fixed for the next race, Ethan roared back to a second-place finish.
The final race of the weekend was run in challenging wet conditions, which are known to favour a driver’s skill and talent. Ethan excelled, taking the lead by the end of the first lap and consistently setting the fastest lap times. His dominant performance saw him cross the finish line a remarkable eight seconds clear of the second-place driver and an impressive 15 seconds ahead of the championship leader.
This thrilling victory means Ethan is now just two points behind the championship leader as they head into the final round at Whilton Mill. To follow his journey and the conclusion of the championship, follow @ethan66racing on Instagram.
