PLATINUM PARTY: Northwood residents’ associations preparing for big Jubilee bash

Published on: 12th May 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Both the Northwood and Northwood Hills Residents’ Associations are joining forces again for the ‘Jubilee Party in the Park’ to celebrate the upcoming Platinum Jubilee.

To celebrate 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, the two groups are preparing what is described as a community afternoon with a relaxed atmosphere. It will take place on Thursday, June 2, from 2 to 6pm, located at the Northwood Recreation Ground on Chestnut Avenue.

There will be two stages of musical performances, as well as a separate marquee for children’s entertainment. People are welcome to bring their own chairs and sit on the grass, with free admission and off-road parking also available.

The programme of music includes the old-fashioned stylings of the Polka Dots, 60s rock from local band Old Skool, well-known numbers from the CJ Edward Band and some more traditional fare the Yiewsley and West Drayton Brass Band.

As for kids, they will no doubt be entertained by the jokes, magic, balloons and Punch & Judy shows of Mr Marvel. There will also be a face-painting stand nearby.

Crepes, Caribbean cuisine, pizza, ice-cream, coffee, cakes and burgers will also be available on the day from the many food stalls attending the party and from the Northwood Football Club clubhouse.

To keep up to date with all the information about the event, follow the party on Facebook, or contact Northwood Hills Residents’ Association secretary Ros Plume at secretary@northwoodresidents.co.uk
