CANAL DEATH: Police put out appeal after woman dies in canal in Hunton Bridge (VIDEO)

A woman has died after she was found in the Grand Union Canal in Hunton Bridge.

Emergency services responded to concerns for the welfare of woman at 12:38pm on Wednesday, May 11.

Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service said specially trained firefighters pulled the casualty from the water, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and, at this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the woman by the canal between 11am and 12.35pm on May 11.

The victim was described as white, aged in her 50s, 5ft 5in tall, of medium build, with shoulder length brown hair.

She was wearing a red T-shirt, a dark-coloured – possibly black – hoody, dark jeans and black trainers with a white sole.

Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue confirmed that crews from Garston, Watford, Rickmansworth and the Hatfield Water Rescue Unit were in attendance. A water rescue sled was used in the operation.
