West Lodge Primary School in Pinner hosted another successful community garden morning last month, planting new trees and plants and clearing old debris.
Pupils, parents and staff planted two new apple trees, adding one to the orchard in the peace garden and one behind the Year 3 block. It is hoped that, by the autumn, enough apples will grow to be able to add apple pie to the school menu.
The group also cleared duckweeds, dead leaves and twigs from the school’s pond and added aquatic plants.
Headteacher Mr Dees told PinnerNews: “We hold termly community gardening mornings at West Lodge. They are a great opportunity for pupils, parents and staff to come together to nurture our local environment and help our school community feel more connected to nature.”
A spokesperson for the school said: “Another successful community gardening morning at West Lodge. Thank you to all the children, parents and staff that helped out this morning.”
