PLAN SLAM: Abbots Langley residents object to proposed demolition of ‘unique’ house

Published on: 6th April 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Neighbours have objected to the proposed demolition of a historic Abbots Langley property.

Plans were put forward in March to demolish the current property at 78 Gallows Lane and replace it with three two-storey detached dwellings with roof accommodation, as well as garden sheds, parking and other amenities.

Residents have submitted their views on the Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) planning website.

One neighbour wrote: “This unique property should be preserved. Yes okay to convert the interior, but seriously not okay to demolish it.”

Another resident stated: “This property is a substantial property of the Arts and Crafts period.

“Few properties of its type exist in the area and if it is demolished, we will lose part of our heritage. My children deserve the right to see properties like this, not just new builds.”

To view the application, search reference ‘22/2315/FUL’ on TRDC’s planning portal.

Applicants SLG Designs Ltd have been contacted for comment.
