Two men were arrested in St Albans on Saturday evening (March 5) after an alleged verbal altercation which then became physical.

Police were called at around 11.15pm on March 5 to reports of an assault in Victoria Street in St Albans.

It was alleged that a number of people became involved in a verbal altercation inside the Slug and Lettuce bar, which then turned into a physical altercation.

Police attended and arrested two men on suspicion of assault, who were taken to custody. They were later released with no further action due to a lack of evidence.

Hertfordshire Police said: “As with all cases, should any new information come to light, it will be reviewed accordingly.

“If you witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it and haven’t yet spoken to police, please get in touch. You can report information online, use online web chat, or call the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference ISR 729 of 05/03.”
