Police are investigating a serious assault in Watford after people from a vehicle involved in a crash with a bicycle had a physical altercation with the cyclist.
The incident began on Tucker Street at approximately 2.25pm yesterday (Thursday, March 6).
The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was riding a bicycle when he was reportedly in a collision with a light-coloured vehicle.
Several people exited the vehicle before they were reportedly involved in a physical altercation with the victim, before returning to the vehicle and driving off towards Lower High Street.
Around five minutes later on Beechen Grove, near to the entrance to Kings Car Park, the same vehicle came to a stop and several people got out. After another physical altercation, and it is alleged that they used the vehicle in an attempt to run the victim over before driving away in the wrong direction along the ring road.
Detective Sergeant Mikey Logue, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “This incident occurred on one of the busiest roads in Watford so we believe that others may have seen something that could assist us with our enquiries.
“We believe those involved are known to one another and would like to reassure the public that we have already made an arrest in connection with our investigation.
“We are doing all we can to ascertain the circumstances, but if you have any information that could help the police investigation, please get in touch quoting reference 41/21356/25.”
