Radlett and Shenley residents can now access prescription-only treatments at Manor Pharmacy on Watling Street as part of the government’s £654million Pharmacy First project, which was launched on January 31.
Hertfordshire county councillor Caroline Clapper explained that pharmacies signed up to the innovative scheme can supply NHS medicines to patients within certain age ranges suffering from seven common health conditions: earache, sore throat, sinusitis, impetigo, shingles, infected insect bites, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
Pharmacy First aims to incorporate existing elements of the Community Pharmacy Consultation Service, which serves patients with minor illnesses in urgent need of medication.
More than 10,000 pharmacies are registered for the service, including Manor Pharmacy in Radlett.
