An Abbots Langley drug dealer was told by a judge today (Wednesday, April 3) that he had been “perilously close” to going to prison.
Luke Prochnik, 44, of Turnbull Court, Summerhouse Way, Abbots Langley, was arrested in 2022. Police seized 11.9 grams of cocaine and a small amount of cannabis.
Prochnik appeared for sentence at St Albans Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and possession of cannabis.
Defending, Rebecca Steels said: “The offence followed a breakdown in his relationship. He was in a spiral in 2022.”
She said Prochnik had cut down on his own drug use and, while now on Universal Credit, had been offered a job with an events company.
Ms Steels asked for a suspended sentence.
Recorder Ann Mulligan agreed. She told Prochnik: “You are perilously close to going to prison.”
But she said he had no aggravating previous convictions and accepted he was remorseful.
She sentenced him to two years in prison suspended for two years. He must complete 15 rehabilitation days and a nine-month drug rehabilitation programme, and must pay £250 in costs.
