A Bedmond youth football team have capped off their time as a team together by winning the league and cup double, an achievement they managed last year as well.
The U16 boys’ team at Bedmond Youth FC have been playing together for just over a decade now but will disband at the end of this season due to reaching the club’s age limit.
In true victorious style, they finished their grassroots journey in style, finishing at the top of the table with 34 points and picking up a cup trophy along the way.
Success is no stranger to the boys however, having been division champions in two different divisions for five years consecutively, and also winning the double last year.
Speaking to AbbotsNews magazine, long-time manager Andy Phillips said: “I’ve been coach of this side for 10 years now, and they’ve been brilliant.
“They gel perfectly together, partly because they all go to the same two schools and know each other so well.”
“That being said, it’s a relief to be finished honestly. They’ve gotten to an age where they’re quite a lot for me to handle!
“Also, my son is in goal for the side, so it’ll be nice to watch the match as a parent now instead of as a worried coach.
“I want to thank James Taylor and Bedmond FC for having us with them these past few years. It’s been amazing.”
