More than 300 local people turned out in force on Sunday, March 20 at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Rickmansworth. Milers of all ages were sponsored to walk or run themselves proud across one, three and six mile routes of Rickmansworth Aquadrome. Ryan Watson, local mile organiser, said: “The day was a huge success. It was fantastic watching the community come out and support such a great cause! “We sold out of entries in advance and had a great morning of games and activities led by Three Rivers Play Rangers and Hertsmere Leisure were offering free health MOT’s, and fitness challenges. Almost £200 was raised on the day through donations and collections with individual runners own sponsorship still to be counted. “A massive thank you also to all our staff, photographer, volunteers and to Three Rivers Police Cadets for marshalling the route.” Three Rivers District Council Chairman Eric Bishop was on hand to set off each mile and present the medals to each finisher. Councillor Bishop said: “It was good to see so many people turn up to either run or support the runners. “Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves and the event raised money for a good cause. I sure everybody would join me in thanking the organisers for all the work they put into arranging such a successful event.” Photo Credit: Sue Lacey Photography / www.suelaceyphotography.com
