A charity fundraiser took place at Bushey Museum today (Saturday, March 19), raising more than £700 for Peace Hospice Care in Watford.
The event was held in memory of Museum Manager Gareth Wood, who sadly passed away last year at 53, and was cared for in his last weeks by the Peace Hospice.
The Art Studio behind the Museum hosted over 100 visitors who enjoyed tea and home made cakes with volunteers from the Friends of Bushey Museum, led by its Chairwoman Rita Castle.
Nearly £600 being raised for the Peace Hospice and its shop. In addition another £100 was collected by the sale of goods made by volunteers and donated pre read books.
Rita Castle said: “The generosity of local people and friends of Gareth from further afield who attended enabled us to commemorate him by raising money to help other cancer sufferers.”
In addition, a previous fundraiser enabled the Museum to purchase a permanent memorial to Gareth in the shape of a defibrillator now available in the Museum.
The Museum is open Thursday to Saturday between 11am and 4pm.
