Northwood missed their chance to move nine points clear of the relegation area on Tuesday night (March 10) after failing to beat eight-man Staines Town.
The Woods took the lead on the 49th minute through Eric Lopes, but were pegged back later in the second half.
Northwood controlled the majority of the game, with their first opportunity coming on the 18th minute after good work from Romario Hart to find Luke Jones, but his shot went over the bar.
Staines had their best chance to take the lead on the 24th minute, but the Woods were glad to see Barrington’s effort cannon off the crossbar.
Lopes gave Northwood the lead on the 49th minute after a fantastic through ball from Jones allowed him to place his shot beyond Staines’ goalkeeper.
Matthew Males then received a straight red card for Staines after a reckless challenge on Hart, who was clean through.
Despite having the man advantage, it was Staines who scored next and equalised through Oyebola after a mistake from Tyla Dickinson.
There was late drama after Staines saw two more players sent off, Jamie Splatt for time wasting and Andrew Blake for a bad challenge, but Northwood couldn’t make the advantage count.
The Woods remain in a relatively strong position to avoid the drop, but may have put any doubts to bed with all three points tonight.
Northwood are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Chipstead.
