The Leader of Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has demanded that reparation works be undertaken following complaints from residents of damage to a path in Tanners Wood.
Gas company Cadent, which is completing works in Abbots Langley, was the subject of the controversy after a resident noticed that the short path between Greenways and Hazelwood Lane had been damaged.
Currently, Cadent is undertaking work on both roads, but it is believed that as the woods provide quicker access, workers were using the connecting path as a cut-through.
Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of TRDC, confirmed that the council has not given permission for Cadent to use the route through the wood.
TRDC has contacted Cadent in search of absolute re-instatement of the damaged areas.
Cadent has been contacted for comment.
