PARKING ISSUES: Road safety concerns to be addressed with bollards being put up in Garston

Published on: 30th June 2021   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Following Garston residents’ complaints over people parking close to the new Meriden shopping parade, Watford Community Housing have agreed to install safety bollards.

After hearing many road safety concerns, local councillors visited the site and invited colleagues from Watford Community Housing (WCH), Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) and Watford Police to look at the issue.

In response WCH have committed to installing some bollards to stop parking on the corner, this is if HCC gives permission to do so.

Councillor Amanda Grimston said: “I am glad that Watford Community Housing have listened to us when raising concerns on behalf of the residents of Meriden and I hope this commitment is delivered in a timely way.

“Resident safety is our primary concern here and we wish for people to feel safe when doing their shopping in the new Co-op.”

Cllr Jenny Pattinson added: “WCH have also said they are working hard with the developer to ensure parking is made available as soon as possible to make the shops accessible to all without compromising on the safety of residents.”
