ALL THINGS MENTAL HEALTH: Croxley school alumni champion mental health through podcast

Published on: 30th June 2021   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A mental health project pioneered by two former Croxley school pupils is continuing to go from strength to strength online.

The All Things Mental Health podcast was launched at the beginning of 2019 by Aneeska Sohal with the aim of discussing mental health topics in a less taboo form.

Since its inception illustrator and Croxley resident Lizzie Knott has joined her school friend as designer for All Things Mental Health.

Lizzie said illustrating for the podcast is a way to make discussions about mental health more friendly and approachable.

She said: “Aneeska asked me to on board as an illustrator/designer as a way to grab people’s attention. The topic is quite taboo and having illustrations alongside has made it friendlier.

“We are now working with activists and news presenters such as Natasha Devon from LBC to speak about how education is framed to support mental health and what schools and universities are doing to support it.”

Lizzie added that since joining the project she has enjoyed watching it grow and develop to reach a wider audience to support more people.

She said: “It feels really rewarding to do. I often check messages on the Instagram account and there are people saying that certain conservations have helped them.

“The podcast is available on all streaming platforms and on Spotify you can see all the artwork which plays alongside and see how the visual identify has changed.”

The duo has also teamed up with Print Social to design a t-shirt as part of World Wellbeing week with 20 per cent of the profits raised going to charity Student Minds.
