Parish council dog show returns to the orchid

The parish council’s annual dog show is returning to Stone’s Orchard on September 22.

The eighth show will begin at 12 noon and has 11 classes for competitors to sign up to.

This year all proceeds from the class entrance fee and tombola will go to RSPCA Southridge Animal Centre.

It only costs £1 to enter your dog into one of the classes and you are more than welcome to enter as many of the classes as you like.

The full list of classes are as follows:
Class 1 – Best Puppy – under one year
Class 2 – Best Veteran – over 10 years
Class 3 – Best Bitch
Class 4 – Best Dog (male)
Class 5 – Stop and Go – this is to test recall and ability to stop the dog.
Class 6 – Best Young Handler – any handler under 16 years
Class 7 – Best Trick – any trick that your dog can do. 
Class 8 – Best Rescue – any rescue dog, does not have to come from a rescue organisation
Class 9 – Chairman’s Choice – the favourite of our chairman
Class 10 – Best in Show – the winners of the preceding classes
Class 11 – Best of the Rest – free entry if you have entered any of the previous classes and not won Food and Refreshments will be available to purchase at the event.

The council said: “Over £2,900 has been raised for charity from previous Parish Council Dog Shows. It is a great event for all the family and even if you don’t have a dog please come along and enjoy the show anyway.”

You can enter the Orchard from The Green, via the footpath from Owens Way and another entrance from the Guild of Sport. Free parking for the event is available in Community Way Car Park.
