Published on: 23rd August 2019   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

After years of waiting for Radlett residents, MP for Hertsmere Oliver Dowden CBE has finally announced that Radlett Station is ready for Oyster and contactless cards.

Pay-as-you-go Oyster cards were tipped to be rolled out to Radlett for some time, but residents were officially informed that it would be implemented back in November.

Since then, it’s been unclear exactly when the scheme would be rolled out to Radlett – but Oliver Dowden MP has now confirmed that it’s ready.

In his statement on Thursday, August 22 he said: “Delighted to have confirmation that Radlett and Potters Bar stations are ready for Oyster.

“I look forward to officially launching the system very soon.

“I know how important the extension of Oyster and contactless cards has been to people in Radlett and Potters Bar and I am delighted that my long campaign to see it brought to the towns has finally come to a successful end.”

The extension of the payment process has been a priority of Hertsmere’s Oliver Dowden MP for some time. He has met regularly with rail ministers and the transport secretary stress the need to deliver on past commitments to extend Oyster technology to these stations.

For passengers who travel irregularly or prefer to ‘turn up and go’, Oyster and PAYG will be the most convenient and cheapest option to travel. Passengers who purchase a Radlett to London Underground Zones 1-2 return ticket will save £4.80 by using their Oyster or contactless card instead.

Mr Dowden added: “I am delighted to have confirmation that Radlett station is ready for Oyster.
