Northwood FC suffered a humiliating 8-2 away defeat to this evening (October 8) to last season’s FA Vase winners, Chertsey Town FC.
The Woods actually took the lead in the disappointing match, with Sacha M’Baye scoring the first goal in the ninth minute.
However, Chertsey swiftly responded, scoring an equaliser in the 14th minute.
It was plain sailing for Chertsey Town, scoring a further four goals before half time.
The Woods tried to bring the game back but Chertsey dominated, scoring another goal minutes after the second half began. Followed shortly with another goal.
Northwood got a consolation goal scoring in the 81st minute through an Alex Witham penalty.
However, minutes later, Chertsey Town took back possession and scored their final eighth goal to seal an emphatic victory.
Northwood FC tweeted: “Possibly a record number of goals conceded for the Woods whose defensive woes continued.”
