A popular author from Radlett has released a new novel about a female DJ trying to make it in the music industry.
Jason Cook’s Euphoria – Pirates of the South, centres around 16-year-old Lana, a troubled young woman who looks to escape the street life of drugs and gangs by becoming one of London’s top DJs. But with gender barriers blocking her way, will the abuse stop her from achieving her dreams?
Jason, who has switched genres since his last book, Rats In Space, says Euphoria will “transport you on a journey to an era where underground music and legendary MCs and DJs were making waves with music”.
He added: “This book pays homage to a time which those now in their thirties and forties can relate to, as well as those who still go to underground raves and parties now.
“As you read, you will be transported to when youth mixed their turntables in their bedrooms with mixed tapes, dub-plates and white labels.
“It was a time when the youth took unpresented risks to show their talents and were making their voices heard through pirate radio stations.”
