An Abbots Langley resident has sadly passed away, having spent more than 50 years in the community.
John Hyde passed away on Monday, April 14. His legacy is 11 children, 21 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Speaking to ABBOTSnews, his family shared: “John faced numerous health challenges over the years, which sadly became too much for his body to endure. Although this has been an incredibly difficult time for our family, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and no longer in pain.
“Dad was incredibly proud of Abbots Langley and loved living here, as well as raising a family in this special place.”
John enjoyed attending the community’s events, including the yearly carnival and various car boot sales. In the past, he even helped his sons with weekend paper rounds in and around the village.
Known for his infectious smile, quick wit, and love for meeting people, John made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered, often leaving others in fits of laughter.
However, John’s passion and greatest achievement was the family he and Rose created together.
His family added: “Family was everything to him and he worked so hard to give all that he could, he would always be there to help, and often said it’s like winning the lottery having such a big family, he felt so lucky. He was a very proud and devoted dad.
“Above all, Dad was our hero. Words cannot fully express the love we have for him or the void his absence leaves behind. He will be deeply missed.
“Rest peacefully, Dad. We love you always.”
