ONGOING INVESTIGATION: Emergency services called to fire in Grade II listed building in Chorleywood

Hertfordshire Police are investigating the cause of a fire at a Grade II listed building in Chorleywood yesterday (Sunday, February 9).

In the early hours of Sunday, February 9, residents headed to social media to share photos and videos of a house on Rickmansworth Road which was ablaze.

Whilst the building remained on fire, Watford Police shared: “We are asking people to stay away from the scene of a fire at a derelict property on Rickmansworth Road, Chorleywood, as the building is unsafe. The fire broke out in the early hours of this morning. Officers are on site and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.”

A police spokesperson confirmed today: “Police were called at 12.20am on Sunday, February 9, by the fire service to reports of a fire at a derelict property on Rickmansworth Road, Chorleywood.

“A number of road closures were put in place and emergency services remain at the scene. Investigations with colleagues in the fire service are taking place to establish the cause of the fire.”
