A well-loved pub in Chipperfield reopened its doors under new management on Saturday, October 12.
The previous owner, David Clark, recently retired after 23 years, passing the reins over to Sue Adams.
Sue, who “always loved pub work”, may be recognised for her time at Kings Langley Services Club and as manager for Taylor Walker & Co brewery.
On opening night, locals were able to mingle over a range of drinks and nibbles, with a live singer Declan Ryan, who travelled from Portugal, entertaining the crowd on the mic.
Sue shared: “The place was packed. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive. We had a range of drinks and food. I couldn’t have asked for a better night.”
Already a community hub, local biking groups have been holding meetings in the pub. Harrow Car Club are due to visit The Windmill at lunchtime on Tuesday, November 5, with their beautiful classic vehicles on show.
Sue added: “I want to keep it as the locals’ pub, welcoming old and new customers. It’s very much a place for the whole village – from dog walkers and families to cyclists and classic wheels groups, our doors are open to all. We want to put our village and The Windmill on the map!”
The pub is soon launching a new menu that will be available for those looking for some classic pub food.
