An event showcasing the best athletes from around the world recently took place in Garston.
The annual British Milers Club (BMC) event, the Watford Grand Prix, was held at Woodside Stadium, the home of Watford Harriers Athletics Club, on Saturday, July 1.
The 600m heat 1 saw Watford Harriers’ very own Eimear McGinley, Naomi Redmond and Anya Rochester take the top three spots. Fellow Watford Harriers Samuel Ames and Josh Woodward came second and third in the 600m heat 2.
Marc Scott, the current European indoor 5,000m record holder, also made an appearance, winning the 3,000m.
Tim Brennan, BMC chairman, said: “We had some amazing fields for the meeting, and it was fantastic to see World Championship bronze medallist Marc Scott racing it out with Britain’s fastest marathon runner Emile Cairess. It’s really wonderful to bring a world-class event to Garston.
“Woodside Stadium has a worldwide reputation as a great place to run. We even had an Icelandic national record! Many thanks to Watford Harriers.”
